Dear Members,
What a start to 2022 we have had! We dealt with a number of electric and internet trouble spots during our recent snow event. Overall, our system held up quite well, but we suffered some damage due to downed trees and limbs on our power lines, and heavy snow and ice accumulations on both power and fiber lines. Thank you for your patience and support while we worked to restore power and internet service.
This month, we are conducting our annual audit. Staff from Friend & Reagan, PC are examining our 2021 accounting records. Their work will culminate in the publication of year-end financial statements and an audit report for Hood River Co-op that covers both the electric and internet divisions. Our auditors will review these at the annual membership meeting in March.
In light of continued public health concerns of the pandemic, your board of directors has asked staff to hold our 2022 annual meeting March 16 using much the same format as the last two annual meetings. We will invite one member at a time to come into the office to vote in our election and pick up an annual meeting gift during our business hours that day, then give our reports in a Zoom meeting that evening.
We’re all looking forward to being able to gather at the fairgrounds and visit in person in the future. We miss the pie as much as you do!
Your board of directors also established a nominating committee to identify candidates who might serve on the board. The terms of three directors expire each year. Members fill the director positions by electing or reelecting fellow members. Candidates may be chosen from a list identified by the nominating committee, or they may file a petition to run for a seat on the board or be nominated from the floor at the annual meeting.
